Who we are

Share for Smile provides high quality community place for patients and their family to encourage each other and share information from all over the world. As we are an International Community provider, we do not only provide the place to share information, but also we offer International Support toward patients and members of the family.

An interaction between different part of the world takes a big role in both educationally and medically. At the same time, we think from the perspective of both patients and family, and also focus on the mental issues that they might face. We offer a place that where patients and parents could use without any concerns as best as we could.

What is a Pediatric Cancer

Cancer is the highest cause of death within the diseases for under 15 years old in US, in Japan for 0~14 (World Health Organization, National Cancer Research Institute Japan). There are 160,000 new childhood cancer cases around the world, and about 90,000 people who were diagnosed pass away.

US specifically, 14.9 children per 100,000 diagnoses depart their lives (World Health Organization). In Japan, 2000~2500 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, which is 1 per 10,0000. 500 children stop their lives each year. However, compared to the adulthood cancer, numbers of pediatric cancer diagnosis are small, which there is not much understanding toward the pediatric cancer. What kind of disease is pediatric cancer?

Childhood cancer is caused when the healthy cells mutate into bad cells, and those cells evolve, and then start destroying the cells around. When this goes to the level of the capacity, it will invade the different parts of the body (Curesearch for Children’s Cancer).

There are few types of childhood cancer, including leukemia, brain tumor, neuroblastoma, malignant lymphoma, and nephroblastoma also known as Wilms tumor. Leukemia accounts for 40% of all types of pediatric cancer, and brain tumor accounts for 20% (National Cancer Research Institute Japan).

Words From the Founder

My parent got cancer. That was the start of this whole project. What if my parent got cancer again? Who do I talk to?

I did not have an answer to my question because I could not find any organization that gives people an opportunity to interact people in the same situation. My first step into this whole idea was to contact several people what they wanted to do. They were looking for the place where they can talk, share, feel the same, and encourage each other with many people. It was hard for them to reach some help to others because they were not the one who was suffering from the diseases.

This project was established by the words from the people. Modern society uses social networking sites to communicate people from all over the world. I thought of using this information society for a device that gives people a place to talk to.

Encouraging, Sharing, Talking. Those will help not only the patients who are fighting with the diseases, but also with the people supporting the patients. I hope this community will make you relieved from the informations, and make you feel better from all the new encounters.

Thank you.
